ASUS EAX1300PRO As was mentioned several times thus far in Phoronix articles, ATI hasn't yet provided official support for the X1K series under Linux. However, that didn't stop us from getting our hands wet with the next arsenal of ATI solutions. One of the cards to have hit our systems recently has been the EAX1300PRO from our friends over at ASUS. The ASUS Extreme AX1300PRO offers 256MB of onboard video memory as well as a bank full of ASUS exclusives such as ASUS Splendid, GameLiveShow, GameReplay, GameFace Messenger, Video Security Online, OSD (On Screen Display), and HyperDrive. Installing the device on an updated Fedora Core 4 box the ATI card is detected as an unknown device but will work with a stock X.Org configuration, however, when installing the latest drivers (v8.20.8) to utilize the new ATI card with 3D acceleration, the monitor will receive no display signal. Mr. Tippett hasn't yet hinted at any release period, however, we hope the ATI X1K Linux support comes within a month or so, before the Linux users become a complete generation behind the Windows idiots. Upon this date, we will provide a great deal of coverage, and of course benchmarks.
