Arctic Cooling ATI Silencer 5 Revision 2 Way back in August of 2004, Phoronix was the FIRST online publication to deliver a review with temperature results of Arctic Cooling's NV and ATI Silencer heatsinks. These heatsinks, which continue to be popular and have been since their release, support a wide variety of video cards and back in the day of our initial Silencer review, we had benchmarked them on an ATI 9600XT and NVIDIA 5900XT. Almost two years later Arctic Cooling's VGA Silencers are still going strong and have featured new additions as well as a major revision. The most recent ATI Silencer to enter our facilities has been their ATI Silencer 5 Revision 2. The Silencer 5 Revision 2 is compatible with all standard X800 and X850 models. The cooler is incredibly quiet, offers ripple noise solution, and offers an impressive six year warranty! Best of all, it sells for a mere $33 USD. For this ATI Silencer 5 we decided to fit it on the recently reviewed Power Color X800XL (256MB). Overall, the installation was a breeze and offered improved cooling, and noise, abilities over the stock video card heatsink solution. Below are a few pictures from the install process.
