Fedora Core 5 + Mono Making Linux news this week has been Red Hat now including Novell's Mono in its upcoming Fedora Release -- Core 5. Mono has already been moved into Rawhide this past Monday and has generated quite a bit of publicity. According to Red Hat officials, Mono is not intended to be included into the upcoming Red Hat Enterprise Linux update. Some of the applications which will become standard in Fedora Core 5 with Mono include the popular Beagle, F-Spot, and Tomboy. The purpose of Mono is to run .NET client and server applications under the various alternative operating systems. Some Red Hat/Fedora developers have begun to blog on this particular topic, with some of them being Chris Blizzard, Seth Vidal, and Konstantin Ryabitsev. The second release candidate for Fedora Core 5 is due out next week while the official release is tentatively due out on March 15, 2006. Posted by Michael Larabel on January, 11 2006 |
