Linux SLI Launches! Phoronix has supplied performance coverage of the NVIDIA Linux
display drivers (1.0-8174) that were released earlier today. To begin, Phoronix has posted an article displaying the performance benefits, or there the lack of, against the previous 1.0-7676 set. The card used in this testing was the GeForce 7800GTX running FedoraCore4 with an Intel Dual-Core CPU. More interesting, Phoronix has posted a SLI article covering NVIDIA Scalable Link Interface frame-rate abilities under Linux. Overall, Alternate Frame Rendering support is most beneficial when it comes to the frames while Split Frame Rendering is great in some instances, and the current generation support for SLIAA, well isn't the best. Two GeForce 6 cards were used today but additional tests are in the process for further Linux numbers. Used in testing here was SuSE 10.0 with an Athlon 64 CPU.
