One of the news items we had failed to mention with the launch of Fedora Core 5 Test 2 and Ubuntu v6.04 Dapper Drake Flight 3 was the availability of SuSE Linux 10.1 Beta 1. The release announcement is available here and can be downloaded from their development mirrors. The codename for this SuSE/OpenSuSE 10.1 release is Agama Lizard. SuSE Linux 10.1 core system comes with CVS versions of glibc v2.4 and GCC v4.1, X.Org v6.9, KDE v3.5, GNOME v2.12.2, Linux kernel v2.6.15. Other features include the integration of NetworkManager and AppArmor 2.0. We will cover OpenSuSE 10.1 Agama Lizard more in-depth later on throughout its cycle. SuSE Linux 10.1 OSS Beta 2 is scheduled to be released on January 26, BETA 3 on February 2, and BETA 4 on February 9. The official launch of Novell's SuSE/OpenSuSE is presently scheduled for a release date of February 16, 2006.
