As we had done upon the availability of Fedora Core 5 Test 2, as it had offered a much improved version of Anaconda (the Red Hat installer program), today we have a few images of the updated installer found inside of OpenSuSE 10.1 BETA 3 (released yesterday). Although this graphical installer is not as revamped compared to the updated Anaconda, there are a few miscellaneous improvements. One of the areas worth commenting on not directly related to the SuSE installer, but rather the package selection, is when choosing the expert installation option and software selection, there is now a category available for non-open source packages. However, the only non-OSS package in this present list is bitstream-vera. Bitstream Vera Fonts are TrueType fonts from the Bitsteam Corporation. There is also a completely new splash screen for the boot process. Anyhow, below are a few snapshots from the OpenSuSE 10.1 BETA 3 OSS installer. We will deliver more information on OpenSuSE upon its release which is coming up close with an expected release candidate arriving on February 16, 2006.
