AMD Cool 'n' Quiet + Linux At Phoronix we have been working on a new technology report based upon Advanced Micro Devices Cool 'n' Quiet Technology. The fundamentals of the article is a small written piece of AMD's answer to Intel's SpeedStep, and then we dive into benchmarking as we monitor the Wattage as well as the CPU temperature. The article was done to the lack of Cool 'n' Quiet tests available on the Internet (for Linux or Microsoft Windows) so we decided to spawn this investigation. We hope to have the article wrapped up and on-line later this week, followed by similar tests of Intel's SpeedStep Technology the following week. All testing is going down with the Linux 2.6.15 kernel, and as you can note from the pictures, two motherboards were used.
