ASRock 939SLI32-eSATA2 When reviewing the ASRock 775XFire-eSATA2 at Phoronix, we spoke a bit too soon regarding the company's position on Scalable Link Interface products. Announced from ASRock America is the 939SLI-eSATA2. This NVIDIA SLI motherboard is surprisingly based upon the ULI M1697 + M1695 Chipset. This motherboard is similar to the also previously reviewed 939Dual-SATA2 as it offers a future CPU port for use with AMD's upcoming AMD2 940-pin socket. Another feature is that it features two PCI Express x16 ports. Rather than reducing the lanes to x8 when both slots are occupied, the graphics cards are able to effectively utilize x32 lanes. To top all of that off, a IEEE-1394 Firewire controller can be found on this "budget" motherboard. Finally, it uses ASRock's external SATA solution. We will be posting a review of the ASRock 939SLI32-eSATA2 shortly at Phoronix, complete with all of our Linux tests. Posted by Michael Larabel on February, 10 2006 |
