As was stated in a earlier Phoronix article here, XGI is presently working on making their COMPLETE Linux driver package open-source to comply with the GNU GPL license. We at Phoronix have assisted XGI Technology in the process of weighing the benefits as well as the disadvantages and it appears in a matter of days we will find the official results. In a high-level meeting scheduled for next week (December 27, 2005) at XGI's Taiwan offices the fate of their drivers will be discussed. The meeting was originally delayed a week due to the holidays. We will have a lot more information to share after we hear the results from this upcoming meeting.
