Weekly Gobble Ending off another week of Linux action, we started out our week on Monday with the premiere of our AMD Cool 'n' Quiet article. We thoroughly examined AMD's Cool 'n' Quiet with Fedora Core 4 by studying all of the factors involved. Overall, CnQ has a fair advantage on the desktop side of things (this week we will be playing with Intel's SpeedStep). As is the monthly ritual (and was not delayed this month), we took a look at ATI's newest fglrx drivers, the v8.22.5. There isn't much in the way of a public change-log for these drivers, however, we did comment on a few matters in the article from one of our sources at ATI Technologies. With these newest drivers (v8.22.5) there wasn't much in the way of frame-rate changes in one of our test setups compared against the previous v8.21.7. Going live yesterday was our review of the Sytrin Nextherm PSU460 460W. On paper, the PSU appears to be packed with goods, however, there were a few significant flaws that we hope will be corrected in future revisions. Software-wise we started out with a look at Pentoo v2006.0 Mini (yes, it is based off of Gentoo) followed by a look at Opera v9.00 Tech Preview 2 for UNIX.
