WINE v0.9.8 The developers of WINE (open-source implementation of the Windows API to run under Linux) have released v0.9.8. Version 0.9.8 is the successor to v0.9.7, which was officially released on February 4 of this year. Many of the important changes for WINE v0.9.8 include better web browser support, beginnings of a word-pad application, rich-edit improvements, multiple Direct3D improvements, few more options in winecfg, and lots of bug fixes! WINE Version 1.0 is evidently near and is certainly enticing some Windows software-bound workers to be able to take the leap over to Linux. The latest information and downloads of WINE can be found at their home-page. Coincidently, Cedega from TransGaming has released Version 5.1 today, which is home to a great deal of gaming improvements for Windows games. Some of the new games featured are Civilization 4, FIFA 06, and Need For Speed: Most Wanted. There is also a host of other fixes and new features. Posted by Michael Larabel on February, 15 2006 |
